IOSH: Managing Safely in the Care Sector

Approved by IOSH, this course looks at the various areas of health and safety with which management need to be competent.

The three-day course has been especially developed and can be run in house, or delegates can attend open sessions at various locations throughout the country.

We use professionally printed materials including a full colour bound workbook which delegates can complete and keep for further reference on their return.

The course is designed to be interactive, and delegates will get the opportunity to carry out risk assessments, desktop court cases and accident investigations.

    Moral, Legal and Financial reasons to manage health and safety.
  • Module Two: Investigating Accidents and Incidents.
    The difference between accidents and near misses.
    Investigation process.
  • Module Three: Human Factors.
    Factors attitude, personality, abilities, training and development, motivation.
  • Module Four: Assessing Risk.
    The risk assessment process.
  • Module Five: Controlling Risk.
    Hierarchy of controls.
    The legal framework for risk management.
  • Module Six: Understanding Managers Responsibilities.
    Health and Safety law; Civil & Criminal.
  • Module Seven: Common Hazards.
    Analysis of common hazards within the care sector.
  • Module Eight: Measuring Performance.
    Active and reactive monitoring systems.
    Health & Safety Audits.

Course assessment is via a 45-minute written test, consisting of 30 questions, plus a standard workplace risk assessment.

Each delegate will receive a course attendance certificate on successful completion of the assessment process.
